The Quartet Theater is imagine to situate itself on S. Craig Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is next to Chase Bank at the crossroad of Forbes and Craig.
Since this theater is designated for CMU educational purposes, it is aimed to be more open and flexible to various performances and engagements. The design concept of the Quartet Theater focused on utilizing multiple performance spaces, both indoor and outdoor, to create unique interactive and viewing experiences for audiences while also providing valuable education to the crew. With the use of equilateral triangles and hexagons, the reference lines of all programs and stages are created. There are two types of experiences within the theater - audience & crew - drastically different but both engaging and interactive.
Each level of the physical model is detachable so that one can easily pull apart the model to see the interior programs and structure. As shown in the model and floor plan, the theater contains four performance spaces - one outdoor and three indoor - to create various viewing experiences.
