The summer of 2020, I fell in love with dolls. They are truly adorable and aesthetically pleasing. They feel great to the touch and are very squishy. Dressing them up in pretty clothing reminded me of the carefree, low pressure, and genuine childhood. So, I designed a clothing collection based on the theme "Childhood". The first thing to consider was the material of cloth. I wanted it to be comfortable and breathable, so I tested several types of fabrics and old cloth to find the best material. Another thing I took into consideration was the style of clothing. I wanted my clothes to have less boundaries and avoid typical social constructs, like the way kids don't conform under social pressure and just be themselves. I also decided to use vibrant colors to express the liveliness of childhood.
After reviewing some of my childhood photographs, I drew some sketches of the cloth design. The first set is of baby cloth. I choose a warm tone furry fabric to create the coziness. The bunny hat and bunny shoes also add to the cuteness. The second set is a bright
green hoodie paired with milky rompers. It is meant to create an autumn activewear vibe; the candy bag and bucket hat make the set more complete. The third set is a white t-shirt with blue floral-pattern dress. This is a combination that I wore when I was young. The last set is purple-themed, with different tones of purple combined with white to be aesthetically pleasing. I also added the detail of a yellow-orangey bag on the back of the jacket.
